What is the Termite Defense Plan?
It’s a termite control plan designed to eliminate termite colonies and prevent damage to the wood components of homes.
Using the Sentricon® System with Always Active™ Technology, we install bait stations around your home to attack the entire colony and help protect the structure of your home.
Once the bait stations are installed around the home, it works to kill termites around the clock. Your Spire technician comes back yearly to check the stations and replace bait as needed.
Step 1 - Schedule
Call today at (888) 316-3615 for a free inspection. Call before 2:00 pm, and we can often schedule your pest control service the same day. Remote locations and other conditions may require next-day service.
Step 2 - Treatment
A skilled technician will inspect your property and provide a customized pest control treatment that will be the most effective for your needs. Depending on the inspection results, your certified technician might suggest treating or protecting against other pests.
Step 3 - Follow Up
Each service includes a detailed report and helpful recommendations to keep pests away. To prevent pests from returning, we return regularly throughout the year to create a pest barrier, increasing protection with every visit. If you see pest activity between your regularly scheduled services, we will return free of charge!
Protect your home with our Termite Defense Plan
Termites cause more damage to U.S. homes than all natural disasters combined every year. Homeownership is one of the most significant and valuable purchases in a person’s life. Unfortunately, our homes are built from the primary food source for one of nature’s greatest foragers — termites. These foragers live underground, so they are rarely visible until it is too late. With the Termite Defense Plan using the Sentricon System with Always Active™ Technology, you can avoid this headache.

Frequently Asked Questions
The cost of the Termite Defense Plan will depend on the size of the house and the severity of infestations. An assessment will help determine the customized needs and the exact cost. Current Spire customers can get discounts for participating in multiple pest control plans.
Spire sends a trained professional to the home to ensure an inspection is completed. We document any concerns, at-risk areas, actual termite damage, or active infestations. We then install a Sentricon protection system with bait stations strategically placed in the ground around the home’s perimeter. They are placed near the drip line, just outside the distance of the home’s eaves. We will return each year to inspect each bait station and replace bait as needed to keep a preventative barrier in place.
No. When the Termite Technician arrives at the customer’s home, a comprehensive inspection of the interior, exterior, and crawl space must be completed. Qualification is based on the inspection. If conditions impede the inspection, such as certain uses of stucco, foam insulation, or blocked crawl spaces, the treatment cannot be offered. In addition, if conditions interfere with the treatment system, such as spring(s) or streams(s) inside the structure’s foundation, stucco extending into the ground, or a flat roof, the treatment cannot be offered. Ask our professionals for a comprehensive list of exclusions.
In most cases, termite services take about an hour to complete. Here is the breakdown:
- A standard Sentricon installation can be completed in 45 min to an hour. Special conditions may require more time.
- An annual bait check and reinspection will usually take about an hour, depending on the number of stations to inspect. The best way to figure this out is to expect 1 min per station at a minimum, plus 30 minutes for the reinspection of the outside and crawl spaces of the home.
Yes. The initial installation and the annual reinspection can only be completed if the customer is home to allow access to interior areas that need to be inspected. At the time of the initial installation, a Spire representative must also review all paperwork with the customer and attain signatures.
However, if a bait check is all that is needed after the initial installation, the customer does not need to be present if the technician has access to the property.
The monthly payments a customer makes will cover the use of Sentricon stations, which are the property of Spire. If a station is damaged, no worries. The customer should notify Fo, and a technician will be scheduled to replace it at no additional cost.
Signs of termites include:
- Mud Tubes or Mud Tunnels. These are cylinder-shaped pathways termites use to travel along exposed areas while foraging for food. These might look like branches of dried mud attached to the side of poles, house foundations, metal fences, and other places.
- Swarmers. These are winged termites that a well-established colony produces once or twice every year. They can be easily mistaken for winged ants, but if seen, it is a sign that a colony is nearby.
- Discarded Wings are left after a termite’s initial flight. These can be found virtually anywhere, but they’re most commonly found near the nest.
- Wood Damage is sometimes visible. The damage is difficult to detect since termites eat wood from the inside out. It might show as bubbling wallpaper or hollow and weakened wood.
- Frass. This is termite droppings, which look like tiny wood grains or sawdust. They are sometimes found near a hole in the wood where the termites dump their waste.
A termite infestation can damage a home in as little as four to five months. Usually, termites go undetected until after costly damage is done.
Termites can be found in every state in the U.S. except Alaska, but they are more prevalent in warmer, more humid climates.
Termites have wings for part of their lives, and they use them to relocate and spread. These wings easily fall off, thus determining where the termite will start foraging for wood and make a new home. If a customer sees wings around windows or doorways, it’s a sign they should get a termite inspection done immediately!
