Spire Pest Control’s Pest Exterminator Service

Pests come in all shapes and sizes. From ants in your kitchen, to termites in your foundation, bug infestations are an inevitable part of homeownership. Some bugs are just a nuisance, like silverfish or crickets which like dark damp places. Other pests like termites or rodents are cause for concern as they cause property damage and can carry disease. Whatever the pest problem you might have, you came to the right place. Spire Pest Control is experienced at combating whatever pest might be bothering you.

Signs of a Pest Infestation

You might already know you have a pest problem. But here are a couple of the most common signs a pest control extermination look for.

  • You can see the pest. The most common reason people discover they have a pest problem is simply by observing it. It could be a mouse in your house, cockroaches skittering when you turn on the lights, or a swarm of hornets around a nest. In any case, it’s time to get rid of pests!
  • Signs of activity. Pests are adept at hiding from us, so you won’t always spot them. Instead, you might notice signs of their presence such as rodent droppings or small piles of “saw dust”  resulting from termite or carpenter ant activity.

What You Need to Know About Pests

  • Pests come in a large variety. The most common kinds of pests you’ll see around your home include:
  • Pests find their way in through any open, unsealed space. This includes cracks in the wood and gaps in the window or old weather stripping.  It’s important to get help from a professional exterminator because, depending on the species, they may create nests, contaminate food and water in your kitchen and bathroom, or cause damage to the inside of walls, electrical wiring, or other parts of the house.
  • While some pests can cause home damage, many carry diseases that can be transmitted to humans. You must control mosquitoes and rodents as they are the most notorious for this.
  • Spiders and wasps are famous for their venomous bite and painful sting. Extreme cases of spider bites or wasp stings can cause life-threatening reactions and hospitalization.

Helpful Pest Prevention Tips

  • Seal cracks to prevent intrusion.
  • Clean baseboards, cabinets, and countertops regularly.
  • Store all food in airtight containers.
  • Never leave food (including pet food) outside.
  • Clear all debris, tools, garbage.

Pest Control FAQ

Can I take care of the pests on my own?

There are many pests that are nearly impossible to eliminate without the help of a professional exterminator. Termites, ants, ticks, fleas, carpenter ants, and bed bugs are all among the pests that are extremely difficult and time-consuming to root out of a home without the proper extermination knowledge, equipment, and experience.

Why do I need a pest control service?

Extermination professionals have the proper training and certification to get rid of pests that spread diseases, cause home damage, and cause emotional distress, including mosquitoes, ticks, termites, carpenter ants, cockroaches, and bed bugs.

Most pest problems cannot be thoroughly controlled without years of pest control experience. The products available for purchase at your local hardware store just aren’t as effective as our integrated pest management techniques that safely use professional products and also take pest behavior into account.

Are pesticides dangerous for the environment?

Responsible companies like Spire Pest Control use products that are proven to get rid of pests while also being environmentally responsible.

Are pesticides illegal?

Pesticides that are reviewed and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are not illegal as long as they are used according to the label instructions.

Are Spire’s products safe for family, children, and pets?

Our environmentally friendly products are uniquely designed to get rid of the pests while also allowing you to enjoy the comfort and safety of your home. Our products are designed to be child and pet friendly.

What products does Spire use?

We combine modern Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques with a variety of environmentally responsible products. Since each situation — and each pest — is different, we make adjustments accordingly. Speak to our customer service representatives for a list of products used during your service call.

How long do your products work?

For up to three months after the application, any bugs, insects, or other pests that come across the area will be exterminated. You can rest easy knowing we are controlling the bugs so you can focus on what matters most to you.

Do your technicians need to come inside my house for each application?

During your first service for our standard Home Protection Plan (HPP), we treat the inside of your home to help root out any pests inside. We won’t need to treat the inside of your home again unless you specifically request an inside service.

Do you offer free treatments between services if pest activity comes back?

Yes. Each Home Protection Plan (HPP) comes with our Spire Money-Back Guarantee. Call our customer service representatives to let us know if pests come back between your regular services, and we will come back to treat the pests again, free of charge.

How often do you come to treat my house?

For the standard Home Protection Plan, we plan to service the outside of your home on a seasonal basis (roughly once every three months).

Do I need to be home in order for you to service my house?

As long as our technicians have full access to your front and back yard, no one needs to be at home if we are doing a standard pest control treatment of the home’s exterior. However, if you specifically request a treatment of the interior of your home, an adult must be present before our technician can enter.

When should I start pest control?

Now is the best time to consider hiring Spire Pest Control to exterminate pests, because it’s not a question of IF, but WHEN the pests will invade the wall voids, the space inside soffits or eaves, gutters, cracks in the siding, and eventually make their way to the house.

What is the benefit of a pest control service?

Professional pest control services can save both time and money. Since do-it-yourself methods aren’t effective over the long term, a homeowner can spend endless amounts of time using ineffective methods. Pests like termites and carpenter ants can cause hundreds of thousands of dollars in home repair costs that are not covered by insurance.

Why does cleaning help prevent pests?

As long as the home has food, water, and shelter, pests are just as attracted to a clean home as they are to a dirty one. When insects have infested a house, cleaning and thorough sanitation techniques root them out of their hiding places and destroy their eggs. However, cleaning inside doesn’t necessarily stop the bugs on the outside thinking about wanting to come in. That’s where Spire Pest Control can really help.

Which pests can spread diseases?

Rodents, mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas can spread nasty diseases including West Nile virus, babesiosis, rickettsiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Fever, Typhus, the bubonic plague, Tularemia, Malaria, and much more.

Which pests will affect my yard?

Uncontrolled, rodents like gophers and groundhogs will eat all the plants in a single area. These and other pests can spread fleas and ticks around the yard, dig up landscaping, and destroy property.

Which pests are the most dangerous?

Many people are stung by insects like wasps every year. Some people are allergic to these stings. Because their stinger isn’t barbed, wasps, bumblebees, and some carpenter bees are capable of stinging multiple times.

Do pest control treatments harm the environment?

All our products are formulated and proven by the EPA to be the environmentally responsible choice for effective pest control.

Does Spire Pest Control use organic treatments?

Spire offers organic exterminator treatment products upon customer request. Please speak with our customer service representatives for further details.

Which pest is the hardest to get rid of?

There are several pests that are difficult to exterminate and control without professional help because they hide effectively, reproduce quickly, and are extremely hardy. Cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, ticks, and termites are among the most difficult pests to eradicate.

Why do pests come back every year? How do insects survive the winter?

Many insects find a warm place to hide, such as the wall voids of your house. They go into a type of hibernation called diapause until spring.

Other insects lay eggs that survive the winter and hatch when the weather warms.

Why do I need pest treatments from Spire Pest Control during the winter?

Pests survive the winter by finding a hiding place in your house or by laying eggs that withstand the cold.

At any time during the cold months, the area could suddenly warm up, which will activate the pests. Our winter treatments will catch and exterminate these pests before they can become a problem again in the spring.

What sorts of pests are active during the winter? What problems do they cause?

Mice and rat problems reach their peak during the coldest months of the year, which is another reason to treat your home during the winter. Rats and mice can sometimes bring other pests to your home, even during the winter, including ticks and fleas.
